All of the buttery addictive qualities of a soft pretzel with the sweetness of a dessert. Make half sweet and half savory or create your own special seasoning. No matter how you enjoy, this pretzel recipe is the perfect base for all your carb needs.

In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and 1 tsp of sugar in warm water. Let stand 10 minutes until creamy. In a large bowl mix together dry ingredients. Make a well in the center and add the oil and yeast mixture. Mix and form into a dough. If the mixture is too dry, add extra water. Knead until smooth, about 7-8 minutes. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat in oil. Cover in plastic wrap and let rise somewhere warm for 1 hour until it doubles in size.
When risen, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and twist into a pretzel shape. Once all of the dough is shaped, in a large bowl, dissolve baking soda in water. Dip each pretzel into the baking soda solution.
Place pretzels on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle with topping of choice. Bake at 450 degrees for about 8 minutes or until browned.
