Lesson 1 of 10
In Progress

Welcome To The Course 👋

Hello there, Baking Bestie!

I’m thrilled that you’re here, ready to become a better baker!

I love that for you- and I am honored that I get to be your teacher. 👩‍🏫 This Baking Basics course is designed to take you from beginner to winner in just a couple of lessons.

Curious about what to expect? 🔎

Well, first I’ll be going over some essential tools that every baker needs in their kitchen. Then I’ll show you how to measure ingredients properly. Which may sound boring, but I promise it is essential to your culinary success.

I’ll also show you how to separate an egg. 🥚 Again, I know that probably doesn’t make sense, but it is a real baking thing. Scout’s Honor.✋ (And yes, I know scout’s only use three fingers in their salute. But I couldn’t find a three fingered emoji. It was this, or Spock.)

Lastly, I’ll be teaching you just a little bit about the three biggest categories of desserts. Cookies, cakes, and pies. 🍪🎂🥧 Obviously, you can go into way more details about each individual category, (which I’ve done in other courses) but here, I’m just going to give you a cursory glance.

I want you to know just enough that you have to explore some more. 😉

Of course, the learning process won’t be complete until you pass a test. 📋✔

But don’t panic- it’s not a DBQ or a math test where you’ll lose points if you don’t show your work. Instead, this is a fun test. (If such a thing exists, this would be it.) I want you, with constant guidance and support from me- your Virtual Baking Friend- to bake some chocolate chip cookies! 🍪 From scratch!

And, if you pass the test, you’ll have super yummy, homemade, oven fresh cookies!

(Seriously, I got oven fresh chocolate chip cookies every time I passed a test, I’d have done even better in school. But that’s just me. 🙄)

Interested?

Excellent! (I’m just going to assume you answered yes. And if you didn’t I’ll change your mind in the next lesson. Don’t believe me? I dare you to keep going. You’ll learn something new, I’m sure of it.)
