Hello! And welcome to the Bake Better course on Cakes, Cupcakes, and Decorating! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰

I’m beyond excited that you’ve joined me and our little VIP community here at the cool kids’ table. 😎 And at this table, we eat so many homemade goodies it’s not even funny!

Now, once you’ve completed this course, you’ll be a cake wizard. You’ll know all about the different types of cake, how to make them, and important tips and tricks to help your recipe come out right. Every time. Plus, I’ll run through the tools you need in your kitchen to transform your cakes from blasΓ© to boss.

Oh, and cupcakes too! Don’t forget the cupcakes! 🧁

But, of course, that’s not all that I have in store for you.

Cakes are only part of the equation when it comes to making cakes. Wait, does that make any sense? I’m talking about frosting, people! We’re going to do an in depth dive into the sweet, sweet world of frosting.

From the most basic, easy-to-make recipe to the best consistency for piping. (We’ll go over what “piping” means a little later.) To what frosting tips you should be using to decorate with and, most importantly, how to make your cake prettier than everyone else’s. 🀩 You’re going to learn it all!

But you’re a smart cookie πŸͺ. You know there’s more to cake decorating than just frosting.

Well, I had that exact same thought. So I’ve included another section all about other ways that you can enhance your cake. (Post frosting, of course. You always need a hearty dab of frosting in your life!) I’m talking about ganache drips, decorating with fondant, making chocolate decorations- and I’ve even included a section on sprinkles.

Are you excited yet?

Cause friend, you’re about to become the king of your kitchen. Or maybe the queen of confections? Either way, you’re royalty, my friend. πŸ‘‘ And you will sure as heck let them eat cake! πŸŽ‚

Now, personally speaking, I hope that this cake course helps you experience the joy of baking cakes. And instills in you a level of cake-baking confidence that other people can only dream of.

But you don’t get to the top if you have low expectations. So I’m about to issue you a challenge right now. And I’m not aiming low. At. All. So are you ready to throw down? Can you handle the heat?! πŸ”₯😈 (Hint: the answer is yes.)

Real quick though, as a legal disclaimer, I’m supposed to warn you: that what I say next could BLOW your beautiful little mind! 🀯 All kidding aside, I truly believe this.

By the time this course is over, you will be able to replicate this cake. πŸ‘‡

😲😍 Yes. This cake.

And not in some sad, “Nailed It” kind of way. I actually believe that you will be able to make this cake by the end of this course. It will take time. And some effort on your part. But if you follow along and absorb all the information I’m about to throw at you- and, be warned, there is a TON of information in this course- you should really be able to make this cake.

And honey, when you do, you KNOW I want pictures! So send them my way when you finally summit this Everest. πŸ”οΈ Because if you take this course seriously, I have no doubt that you will.

So I’ll ask you again. Are you excited yet?!

Now, before I send you straight into to cake school, I do want to do some boring, managerial stuff first. πŸ“‹πŸ–Š

But I’ll be quick about it. I promise.

In terms of how this course is formatted, there are Sections, Lessons, and Topics. Sections are the super broad banners that say things like “Cakes & Cupcakes” or “Decorating.” Labels that help categorize the course, but don’t actively teach you anything.

Lessons are where things get real. The lessons are where you’re going to spend the majority of your time. They’re full-to bursting with information, pictures, videos- anything and everything I thought could help you in your cake journey.

Now, speaking of those videos… Being your virtual baking friend is a job I take very seriously. And no good friend would even DREAM of leaving you all alone in your kitchen to brave the cake wilds solo. So I’ll be baking right along side you, in video form, to help you through each recipe. πŸŽ₯πŸ‘‹

And since the best way to learn is by doing, I’m going to have you baking in your kitchen as part of the process.

There will times throughout the course where I hand you a recipe and tell you to head to your kitchen for some hands on learning. βœ‹πŸ€š But don’t worry. All the recipes have been selected based off what your skill level should be at that point in the course. And like I just said, I’ll be with you, in video form, every step of the way. πŸ‘£

Lastly, we have Topics. Topics are where I break down a specific point that’s within the current Lesson even further. Because sometimes it’s worth whipping out a magnifying glass to explore an important concept in greater detail. πŸ”Ž

Now let’s talk navigation. 🧭

At the bottom of every page, you will see a “Next Lesson” button. This button does two things. One: it instantly moves you into the next Lesson, so that you can keep learning seamlessly. (Which is outright awesome.) And two: in your menu, on the side of the screen, it crosses off the Lesson you just finished. The thing is, when it crosses it out, it uses a sharpie cause that line is permanent. 😱

But don’t panic.

Even though it’s true that all completed Lessons get crossed off forever, you will continue to have full, unfettered access to them. Simply go to the menu bar on the side of your screen and click into the Lesson you want. It’s that easy. All the information will be there, same as usual. πŸ‘Œ I just wanted to warn you that as you click the Next Lesson buttons, it will change the way your course looks.

Why does this even matter?

Well, it matters if you ever want to jump backwards to refresh your memory. πŸ§  Which I hope that you will do. Because I want to encourage you to use this course as a resource. What do I mean by that? I means that- even after you’ve worked all the way through the course- I want you to flip back through it whenever you have a cake specific baking question.

I built this course to be comprehensive. Which ultimately means there’s a boatload of knowledge all crammed together. So, if all that information doesn’t sink in the first time, that’s ok. βš“ Circle back to it. Honestly, it took a lot of hard work on my part to make this course. So it would make me genuinely happy if you used it more than once. (Just saying.)

Ok- time’s up! How’d I do?

I tried to keep it short and sweet. But I’m not sure I achieved it. πŸ€” Either way, I can guarantee that’s the last time I’ll be talking about boring, non-cake stuff for the rest of this course. Speaking of the rest of the course… I need you take a deep breathe.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

Look deep inside yourself and ask yourself this question: Are you ready to begin you journey towards cake mastery, young pupil?

SWEET!!! (I’m just gonna assume you answered yes.)

Simply click on the Next Lesson button to jump into the first chapter of the course. Want a sneak preview? Ok! Next, I’ll be giving you a brief run down on what tools you’ll need, moving forward. Besides just a knife and fork, I mean. πŸ΄πŸ˜‹
