Moon Cake 8

Goodnight Moon Cake

This cake is dreamy! This lunar masterpiece is easy to achieve with the help of some food coloring and an assortment of piping tips. Just set a small plate over half of the cake to create a crescent shape. In the area not covered by the plate, start decorating a ton of tiny dots and stars. Remove the plate from the cake to reveal the moon and the night sky. Add sprinkles to the blue side of the cake and you’ve got yourself one starry night confection.

Goodnight Moon Cake

  • Clear Sprinkles
  • White Frosting
  • Yellow Food Coloring
  • Orange Food Coloring
  • Blue Food Coloring
  • Non-Melting Confectioners’ Sugar

  1. Frost the entire cake with a deep blue frosting. Take a small salad plate and cover the top of the cake until all that remains uncovered is a crescent shape void.
  2. Using a handful of piping bags filled with orange and yellow frosting and fitted with different tips, (we used a large star tip, small star tip, and a small round tip) decorate the exposed cake with a lot of little dots and stars.
  3. Once the entire crescent shape has been filled and there is no longer any blue showing, remove the plate. Sprinkle the reserve blue half of the cake with sprinkles and a dusting of non-melting confectioners’ sugar.

Thanks to So Yummy for the decoration idea!
