You only need 5 ingredients, a doughnut cutter, and a bag of sliced almonds to make these delightful cookies. With a powerful almond flavor and crisp crunch of overlapping almond garnish, this elegant and minimalist dessert is shaped like a Christmas wreath. So if a garland of fresh greens aren’t your go-to decoration, give these tasteful treats a try.

Crumble the almond paste into a large bowl. Add the sugar, salt, and 2 egg whites; beat until it forms a thick sticky paste. Add the flour and mix until combined- the dough will be sticky.
Roll dough out onto a lightly floured work surface until ½ inch thick. Use a doughnut cutter and cut out the wreaths. Repeat with any scrapes. Arrange the cookies 1 inch apart on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the surface with egg white. Arrange almond slices around the wreath (I did two rows of almonds per wreath. It took a long time, but it came out amazing!)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Gently press the almonds into the dough so that they stick well to the tacky surface. Brush the almond layer with egg whites and sprinkle extra sugar on top to garnish.
Bake for 16-18 minutes or until golden brown.
